Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s prompt is Characters I’d Like to Switch Places With, and I actually switched weeks with Scrill so I could do this prompt because this is one I’m going to love to do!! I’m all about the characters in the books I read so here goes!!
The Boneless Mercies
by April Genevieve Tucholke
As beautifully as this story wrapped up, I still would love more. More of these fierce women, more of the folktale atmosphere, more of the rich development of these beautiful characters. I think that there is plenty more story left to tell that another book would be very welcome among all readers!
Sadie
by Courtney Summers
I know that this one left off on a question for a reason, but honestly I just really want to know WHAT HAPPENED TO SADIE?!?!?! If there was just one more book to follow the rest of her journey I would very much appreciate that!!
Sky in the Deep
by Adrienne Young
AGHH This book was just sooooo good. I loved every minute of it so of course I would love more to this story. I want more of Eelyn and Fiske!! I mean how cool are those names?! The setting of this book was addicting and I flew through it so fast wanting more more more! If there was a second book coming out anytime in my lifetime and I could then die happy.
The Loneliest Girl in the Universe
by Lauren James
Another that wrapped up pretty nicely, but there’s always room for more of a good story! I would like to know what happened to Romy after all is said and done. There was so much chaos towards the end of this book that it would be cool to see how Romy goes on from there. We sort of have an idea, but its never as good as what the author can come up with!
The Bird and the Blade
by Megan Bannen
If I could handle more heartbreak I would love more to this story. Maybe Bannen could go back and change the end of this book so that there can be more love and happiness in a second one. I loved the heartwrenching story told in The Bird and the Blade so maybe even from a different POV? This book was just such a thought provoking and heartbreaking love story and we all love those.
To Kill a Kingdom
by Alexandra Christo
There has been talk about maybe another story set in this world being written? I’m not sure if the rumors are true, but if they are then, DREAM COME TRUE! I loved this book and the dark twisted turns it took. Give me more!!!
The Weight of Feathers
by Anna-Marie McLemore
Who doesn’t love a bit of romance and magic all in one? I thought this was such a sweet and touching book, I would love to know what happens next, and what better way to tell your loyal readers than with a SEQUEL!!
The Goblins of Bellwater
by Molly Ringle
I don’t know if you’re ready for another adventure through Bellwater.. After the journey that poor Livy went through to get her sister back its only fair to want to know more! I loved the woodsy atmosphere and the evil goblins and think that a journey back to this setting would be so much fun.
An Enchantment of Ravens
by Margaret Rogerson
I kept thinking the whole time I was reading this, how it would be nice if this wasn’t a standalone. I think that the author rushed it quite a bit to wrap it all up in one tidy book, but if it was fleshed out a little more and extended into multiple books this could be such an epic series. I loved the whole concept of this book, but it was lacking what could be accomplished by adding a little more to the story. If its good enough to need a brother or sister, then it deserves more!
The Hating Game
by Sally Thorne
I could honestly read about Lucy and Joshua for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy. Their banter and flirtation made my life complete for the short 24 hours I devoured this book in. I finished it and considered turning it right back to page one and starting all over again I loved it so much. I just need more of them PLEASE! I know that Sally Thorne has some other books published, but its not about Lucy and Josh, and I’m an addict with only one cure. MORE L&J ROMANCE PLEASE!
Lets Discuss
When trying to pick ten titles for this prompt I realized that I don’t read a whole lot of standalones. I think I need to start considering this more when I choose a book to read!! While series are so much fun because you have a book to look forward to reading after you fall in love with the first book in the series, its still nice to know that the story will be all neatly wrapped up in one book. Except for in the instance of the books above, where you can’t get enough, its nice to have a story told from beginning to end in one tidy book. What do you think of my picks? Would you choose any differently? What books do you think need sequels? I’d love to know!
Ok, I haven’t read many of these BUT….I thought that there was going to be another Enchantment of Ravens book?! No?? I imagine things sometimes. And I would LOVE to see another Goblins of Bellwater book! Ihaven’t seen many people who have read that, but I loved it!
I think there’s another book coming out by the same author as Enchantment of Ravens, but its another standalone. The covers look really similar though. And omg I do that all the time, I dream a book is out or that there is a book I read, but in reality it doesn’t even exist! haha and YES Goblins of Bellwater was so good! I really liked how creepy yet real it all was! Youre right though, you don’t hear about it that often, I wouldn’t mind rereading it sometime soon now that we are talking about it! I always thought it would be cool to see the comic book that they talk about making in the book..!
Sky in the Deep, for sure!!
YES!!! I couldn’t get enough of that book!!! I can’t wait to read her next book!
Me too!! Iβm excepting it to be greatness.
September!!! I’m excited that its going to be set in the same world as Sky in the Deep π If I can’t have a sequel with Eelyn and Fiske then I guess this will do !! haha
Haha, yes I agree! At least itβs something.
I need to read more standalones! ππ Bring on another book from the To Kill a Kingdom world!! That book, blew me away!
I couldn’t agree more!! I loved every bit of To Kill a Kingdom!!! and right?!!! I feel like I’m addicted to series because it was really hard to come up with just 10 standalones that I’ve read within the last couple of years. I had to dig reallll deep lol
