Oh hey guys! It’s February 13th and that means it’s Galentine’s Day!!
I completely adore Leslie Knope, and love the idea of Galentine’s Day. For a few years now my lady friends and I have gotten together, had delicious treats, and watched Pride & Prejudice (2005 version). This year is my first year without my best friend who usually hosted (She moved to Austin, TX to be super smart and get her master’s degree) and my heart was pretty sad. She’s amazing though and sent me a
little Galentine’s day package in the mail full of goodies. I adore her, and even 2,000 miles away she knows how to make me feel loved and special.
ANYWAY, the purpose of this post is for me to gather all my favorite books I have read this last year that feature strong female friendships. I’ve decided just within the last year just because I didn’t want to be too overwhelming, and also, so I can continue next year! In fact, let’s just keep it to my top three female friendship books read this year. Click the titles to be redirected to my full reviews of each book.
1. Alchemists of Loom by Elise Kova
This book is not only chock full of fantastic female bad assery, but has two characters, Ari & Florence. Their bond goes beyond mentoring and they have a friendship that is literally explosive. I love the dynamic that they have with each other. Ari is such a fierce character is extremely protective of Florence even if it isn’t completely evident. Florence will follow Ari’s lead blindly accepting pretty much everything that she drags her through including ensnaring a Dragon from Nova that has fallen to Loom.
2. Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
Okay, I am sure you guys are getting tired of me talking about this book. But I adore this series. Safi and Iseult are thread sisters. That means their bond is so strong that their souls are pretty much woven together. Both of them may have their own goals, but still put the other ahead of themselves. The sacrifice and dangers they are willing to face is just so touching.
P.S. the third installment a Sightwitch (Witchlands #0.5) is out today!!
3. Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo
After a rule-breaking, but life saving act Diana brings destruction to her home, Themyscira and her best friend is pretty much dying since she broke Amazonian law. The one thing Diana really wanted was to belong. And even though some oracle basically told her not to, she still does everything she can to save her friend. Except that by doing her own plan means that she will pretty much be exiled from her home. Talk about friendship – giving up your own dreams to save your friend, even when the possibility of success is slim to none.
I’m Curious \ ^_^ /
So what are some books that you have read that feature strong female friendships? Do you have any special things that you do with your friends just to celebrate how awesome they are? How amazing is Leslie Knope?
I hope you all have a wonderful Galentine’s Day!!! You are all so wonderful and deserve to be appreciated every day, but let’s take today to embrace it! Share the love, and let one of your girlfriends know that they are truly special and that you appreciate them!
