After 7 years being the assistant for an agency Evie summers is left with the problem of getting a writer to finish a deadline or the entire company is lost. In an attempt to help with his cynical outlook for romcoms, Evie attempts to prove to him that it can really happen…by trying all the meetcutes right out of the book…or movie.
The Story
Seriously this was cute. Do you like romcom movies? Then yes you will like this movie. This is a romcom book about a gal trying to get a guy to write a romcom by inducing romcom scenarios. It’s a romcom inception, if you will. All those cute scenes? They happen. From When Harry Met Sally to The Wedding Planner to The Holiday, so many of those favorites are mentioned and utilized. And while one of my all time favs, Hitch, wasn’t mentioned, the MC making a huge fool of themselves was still an underlying plot line, so I was happy.
If you are looking for a HEA and a pretty predictable story line with a lot of cuteness. Then yes, this book is for you. If you’re looking for a steamy book? Not so much. The most erotic part of the book stems from the most unlikely (or likely) scenarios and yet the MC gets no farther than a kiss (kisses) on her endeavors. But still. It was cute. It was sweet. And I finished in one day.
The Characters
This is that type of book where you’re mentally casting all the roles in your head as you’re reading, my mind flitted from this or that character. But to be honest, I quickly forgot about it and just had a mental picture without anyone famous playing the lead roles. Evie turned out to be that typical naive girl, but I am glad she made some good decisions later. Meanwhile, Annette was my favorite character, and my only hope is that if this book is turned into a movie…well, I hope they don’t have some annoying child play that role.
