Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

** Side note: To keep things as up to current date as possible I am only picking favorite couples from books that I’ve read in the last year. These are not my all time favorite couples, just couples I love from books I’ve recently read!

32505753Theo and Søren

Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian

I know the usual couple here would be Theo and Blaise, but as much as I like them together, I love Theo and Søren together more. There’s something about a forbidden love that gets to me, and their hidden kisses in the tunnels and connection even through all the odds makes me feel like they are the couple that should end up together.

33784284Audrey Rose and Thomas Cresswell

Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

Could there be a more perfect couple?!?!?! I was so in love with Audrey Rose and Thomas that I literally cried of happiness when they finally sealed it with a kiss!!! I think that this is one of the most healthy and realistic relationships that I have ever read about in a book. While the circumstances surrounding it might be a little off the beaten path, they still manage to have a non toxic partnership that is built on trust and respect instead of lust at first sight. I died a little every time that Thomas let slip how much he cared for Audrey Rose, I wanted them to make it official so badly. I can’t wait for the next book in this series so I can fall back in love!

26032887Jude and Cardan

The Wicked King by Holly Black

Its not really until the second book that we can even officially say that there is a Jude and Cardan to talk about. Plus as messed up as this relationship is, it doesn’t get really good until we get to see how much Cardan is willing to do to save Jude. This is the epitome of a love to hate relationship and because of that there is a lot of hate mixed in with all that love. Still though, I can’t get enough of it and will ride this ship until it sinks!!

25740412Elloren and Yvan

The Black Witch by Laurie Forest

I don’t think its possible to put into words the angst and romantic tension between these two throughout this book. Its definitely another love to hate type of relationship, but I guess those are just my thing because I couldn’t get enough of these two. And then in the next book it gets even better!!! AHHH! There’s something about two people coming together despite all the negativity that surrounds them that feels like the true test of love. I think that because of the hardships they have gone through that’s what makes them perfect for each other.

32702487Jinghua and Prince Khalaf

The Bird and the Blade by Megan Bannen

This is one of those rip your heart out and stomp on it kind of love stories. Romeo and Juliet couldn’t hold a candle to the kind of heartbreaking love story that Jinghua and Khalaf have. Trust me when I tell you though, that it hurts so good. I read this book in a matter of hours and once it was over that ending replayed itself in my mind over and over and over. I think it hurts so much though because it feels so real. The love between these two characters never got to become all that it had potential to become and because of that it feels like it was such an intense love for the short amount of time it was able to exist.

35796008Kazi and Jase

Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson

I mean, if you’re going to be chained to someone while on the run, might as well be a handsome someone, right? This was one that you knew had to lead to something eventually because why else would they be stuck together in such a way? But when things do finally come to light and feelings begin to stir I was right there for them cheering them on! This is yet another love story for the ages from Pearson. I can’t get enough of her writing and her characters feel so real and tangible its like you can’t help but love them all. So its no surprise that I would fall in love with Kazi and Jase and their sweet love story. Give me more!!!

32667458Asha and Torwin

The Last Namsara by Kriten Ciccarelli

This couple warms my heart because it goes to show that social status shouldn’t mean a thing. Asha and Torwin fall for each other even though he’s a slave and she’s practically royalty. That doesn’t stop them from finding safety and care in each other and a will to fight for what is right even if it could mean war or even death. It made me so sad to know that the second book wasn’t going to focus on Asha and Torwin but just knowing that they would make an appearance was all I needed to pick it up and read it!

42526667Lei and Wren

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan

I wasn’t expecting to love this couple as much as I did. The friendship and courage that supported their love was empowering. This is the love that we all search for and in that I couldn’t help but want more of it! It felt original and real and definitely not overdone. I was getting butterflies in my stomach at every brush of their hands in passing, or when they would sneak a grin at the other. And knowing that these simple gestures could get my heart fluttering let me know I was all here for this ship. I was rooting for them to escape and live happily ever after through the whole book. I can’t wait to find out if this will ever come to be in the second book in this series.

25883848Lucy and Joshua

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

I mean the title says it all. I’m a sucker for love to hate relationships and this one is the definition of it. Lucy and Joshua HATE each other, but like we were taught in 3rd grade, when a boy says he hates you, it really means he loooooves you! DUH! Guess Lucy missed that memo. But that’s okay because one steamy scene after the next lets us all fall in love with Joshua along with Lucy. I couldn’t read this book fast enough I was so invested in the outcome. I wanted to turn it back to page one and start all over immediately. I can definitely see myself rereading this again and maybe again in the near future if not just for the amazing dialogue between these two. I was laughing, swooning and crying all in the matter of a couple pages. I LOVE THESE TWO!!!

36199084Stella and Michael

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

OMGGGG!!! I couldn’t be more in love with any two characters than I am with these two!!! Okay, I might feel that way about all the couples on this list, but trust me when I say that this coupling will make you want to run around screaming with joy and happiness because there is so much love here to go around. I fell so completely in love with Stella and Michael and cried when things got rough, and then felt elated when things worked out. Trust me you won’t be able to not fall in love if you read this book, but thats okay, you’re not alone.

Lets Discuss

Do you agree with these couples? Any that you would add?? Who are your favorite couples in books?!! I’d love to know!
