Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Storm Dancer by Jay Kristoff
I have read some of Kristoff’s recent books this year and absolutely loved them. I’ve heard such great things about the rest of his books so these are definitely some of his older writing that I’d like to get into. I’m sure if they are anything like his recent stuff I’m going to be obsessed.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
This is one of those books that I know is going to be powerful and moving, but that’s also the reason I’m sort of intimidated to read it. I don’t know about you, but I have to be in the right mood for a tearjerker though and I think that’s why this book has been on my TBR for so long. I will read it one day though!
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
Do you have books that sit on your shelf that you know you will eventually read, but every time its time to pick a new book you still pass it up? That’s this entire series for me. I’ve seen the movies, thought that they were great. Even bought the newest book in the series that came out recently.. But still I have yet to read them. I will though. One day.
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
I know without a doubt that I would love this book/series if only I could get myself to sit down and take on this epic series. I think its not the book that’s intimidating, but the size of the series. When I start a series I tend to like to read them back to back so I know that I will need some time to get through all of these once I start.
The Magicians by Lev Grossman
This is one of the only books where I’ve broken my cardinal rule of not watching the show before reading the book. But I will say that I am OBSESSED with this TV show. And that kind of makes me want to read the book all that much more now. So I guess this is a rare instance where it worked out in my favor to do a little rule breaking.
The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
Why is it taking me so long to read these?!! I’ve heard nothing but amazing things and from the blurb it sounds like exactly my cup of tea. Alas there are just so many books out there that even some of the best get pushed aside for a later date.
The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi
The audiobook is on queue for this one so I am happy to say this one won’t be applicable for this list much longer. I can’t wait to get into this magical world that I’ve heard so many good things about. I listened to the first couple of minutes the other day just as a little teaser and I can’t wait now!
My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows
So I’m not big on historical fiction but after really loving Stalking Jack the Ripper I’ve found that maybe it just takes the right book. And the idea of taking a classic and reworking it into something new and refreshing is almost too intriguing to pass up! Also I got the second book in the Lady Janes series in a book box so I’m eager to see if I like them!
The Black Witch by Laurie Forest
With so much backlash about this book when it first came out, I think I was hesitant to pick it up. There’s just so much out there to read without all the drama you know? But Scrill has told me that I should give this one a try and she knows my reading style probably best out of anyone so I have this ready to go any day now!
Wicked like a Wildfire by Lana Popovic
This one might have been an impulse buy at first due to the BEAUTIFUL cover 🙂 I’m a sucker for a pretty cover. But I have a feeling that I will really love the story as well. And with the second book also recently published maybe its about time I push this one higher on the TBR.
What are your thoughts on my picks? Do we have any in common? Any that you think I should also add to my list? Whats on your backlist that you need to read still? Let me know in the comments below!
