This a new meme that we are starting here Vicariously & Voraciously in attempt to organize our thoughts for all the books we are currently reading. This is so we can update the status of how far along we are in our current reads, how we are liking it so far, and any other general current updates on the books as we read them. Feel free to use this prompt to keep your currently reading status up to date with us! It can be used weekly, once a month, or as often as you like.  We love to see what everyone is reading and what they think!

20658347Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Current Status: pg. 316 of 561

Since I am rereading this, it’s nothing new but I am realizing how much of the detail that I have forgotten in a years time. The building of the relationships between so many new characters and the old have so much more meaning knowing whats to come, and I LOVE IT! This one really stands out as one of my favorites in the series. Not only to we get to meet some amazing new characters such as Manon, Abraxos, Asterin, Lorcan, and Aedion. But we also get to see more of this world other than Adarlan and Rifthold. Mistward is such a cool place to imagine in my mind, and I love the atmosphere in this book, and not to mention my hunka fae warrior prince Rowan is there as well!! The magical feel of Wendlyn is almost palpable on the pages and I love the change of scenery for Celaena, not to mention just how much she grows while she’s there learning to become the part of herself that shes always had to keep hidden.

35796008Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson

Current Status: pg. 20 of 505

I am so so happy to be back in the Remnant Chronicles world!! And already from the very beginning we can see some of the same characters from Pearson’s previous trilogy. I haven’t read much of this yet, but so far I am loving it. The writing is comfortable to return to and that makes it easy to get into the story without having to figure out where they are or what the backstory is and all the information that is usually overwhelming when starting a new series. I like when authors continue to write within the same world that their other books are set in. That way true fans can really appreciate it while new fans are inspired to read the previous books by the author.

Current Status: pg. 23 of 308

I am also in the very beginning stages of this book and I was really surprised that it’s so Sci-fi! I was not expecting that at all based off of the cover and briefly reading the blurb. But after getting into it a little bit, it works!!! I am interested to see how it all fits together but for now, I lurve it!  I can already tell though that the writing in this one is going to be beautiful and that right from the prologue I am already hooked.  I didn’t want to pause last night but I was having a hard time keeping my eyes open so I’ll be picking this back up tonight to make some progress!

Let’s Discuss

Have you all read any of these books, or are you currently reading any of the same as me? What did you think of them if you have already read them? Any good suggestions on what to read next? Let me know in the comments below!
