This a meme that we have started here at Vicariously & Voraciously in attempt to organize our thoughts for all the books we are currently reading. This is so we can update the status of how far along we are in our current reads, how we are liking it so far, and any other general current updates on the books as we read them. Feel free to use this prompt to keep your currently reading status up to date with us! It can be used weekly, once a month, or as often as you like.  We love to see what everyone is reading and what they think!

34842208Stain by A.G. Howard

Current Status: pg.66 of 520

Slowly making progress on this one, I pick it up and read it when I have a break between all the ARCS I’m trying to finish that are being published this month so unfortunately those take priority. BUT I am really enjoying what I’ve read of Stain so far.. There is a fairy tale style of writing that is almost nostalgic to Grimm’s or other older fairy tales you read as a child. The story isn’t straight forward but rather it unveils itself as events unfold. I’m loving all the characters so far and it even has a Cinderella vibe with the evil aunt and her bratty children who are trying to take over the castle in the wake of poor Lyra’s father’s death. I really despise her aunt. Hopefully karma will come back around and bite that evil you know what in the ass. I’m also really enjoying Vesper’s chapter so far, just getting into the first part of the book from his POV and I’m intrigued! Hopefully I get more time to sit down and get into this here soon.

So Scrill and I are buddy reading this one together and we set a lofty goal of around 10 chapters per day. And I’ve completely failed at this goal already. I’m hoping that tonight and the rest of the week prove different and that I’m able to knock out a good chunk of this book.. I know I’ll love it once I get into it, its just keeping my eyes open long enough at the end of the day to get enough read where I can’t put it down. I have a LOT of catching up to do, but then again, when do I not? lol

40642333The Bird King by G. Willow Wilson

Current Status: 2 % (ebook ARC)

Just starting this one, I have had this sitting around for a while and now is the time. The synopsis sounds like it might be a slow read, but it also sounds like it will be a heartfelt read which I love. I’ll have more on my thoughts for this next week when I review it before its published on Tuesday! WHEW! Time to speed read!

Also, can we please gaze at that beautiful cover. I’m a sucker for a pretty cover and this one drew me in right away. It makes me wonder why they call him the bird king and gets my mind working right away. Thats the beauty of a good cover, sometimes they can get you interested in the story before you even know what its about!

40535637The Pioneer by Bridget Tyler

Current Status: 100 % (ebook ARC)

Just finished this the other night and YOU GUYS! It was really really really good! After devouring Skyward, I was still in the mood for a sci-fi space explorationg type of book and this was perfect for what I was craving. It was so different from other space books where they mostly take place on a ship or some kind of station, but in this instance you actually get to experience what might happen if we one day find a planet that is comparable to Earth and how we would manage to try to start a new life on a different planet. But what if the planet was already occupied, what happens when we become the aliens? It was so cool to read about and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ll have a review for this posted either tonight or tomorrow so I’ll go more into detail there!

Let’s Discuss

What books are you all juggling this week? Do we have any in common? How many books do you typically read at once? I used to only read one at a time  but here in the past few years I’ve found myself reading quite a few at once. While I tend to stick to one book from the bunch primarily at a time, it still can get a little all over the place. Do you have any tricks to keep your books separate in your mind? I’d love to know what you all think!
