This a meme that we have started here at Vicariously & Voraciously in attempt to organize our thoughts for all the books we are currently reading. This is so we can update the status of how far along we are in our current reads, how we are liking it so far, and any other general current updates on the books as we read them. Feel free to use this prompt to keep your currently reading status up to date with us! It can be used weekly, once a month, or as often as you like. We love to see what everyone is reading and what they think!
Lady Smoke by Laura Sebastian
Current Status: pg. 512 of 512
So I started this one immediately after finishing Ash Princess and couldn’t stop until the very end. I will have a full review of it up here soon, but until then just know that this one was great! I realized after rereading Ash Princess that I really like this series. Everything is well fleshed out, the characters are great and in depth, the magic system is easy to understand and follow and the plot is great. I was afraid after seeing someone guess that they thought the title of this book meant it was going to be about Cress instead of Theo, but I’m glad to say that this is an immediate continuation from book one. Thank goodness because I really don’t like Cress and wouldn’t have wanted to read her story. I really enjoyed Lady Smoke and now the wait begins again for the third book.. AGHH!
Ship of Smoke and Steel by Django Wexler
Current Status: pg. 56 of 352
I’m ashamed that I haven’t gotten further along in this book yet. I really am looking forward to it and I really like what I’ve read so far, but apparently my life consisted of nothing but finishing Spectacle and then devouring the Ash Princess books. It was not in vain though since I did manage to knock out three books since last week which is a pretty good reading week for me! So far though in Ship of Smoke and Steel I am liking the fact that Isoka is pretty much a badass who takes no crap. She’s already kicking ass not even 100 pages in. I’m hoping that it has a little more than just fight scenes though, while I do enjoy them, I also like a little more depth to the plot. I have a feeling I’m going to love this book though.
The Waking Forest by Alyssa Wees
Current Status: 1% (ebook ARC)
Okay so I just got approved for this e-arc yesterday and its the next up on the list of ARCs to read publication date-wise, so here goes nothing! I actually really like the synopsis of this book and I’m looking forward to jumping into this one. It sounds really dark and ominous and I’m a big fan of the eerie and twisted so this should be a fun read. Also, that cover is mesmerizing!!! Every time I look at it I see something new. I love books with pretty covers, you can never go wrong with a good cover 🙂 Hopefully this is a winner!!! I’ll keep you lovelies posted on how it goes!
Let’s Discuss
What are you all reading this week?! Has it been a good reading week, or a bad one? What’s the average number of books that you usually finish within a weeks time? I’m kind of in the middle as far as my reading pace goes, I know I’m not the fastest, but I’m definitely not the slowest either… Any reading tips on how to read faster? I’d love to know what you all think!
This is such a fun check-in meme!!
Thank you!!! it definitely helps me keep track of everything I’m reading! You should do one next week too! The more the merrier 🙂
