This was originally made by Lost in a Story, and is such a fantastic idea. Here are the instructions:
Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
Read the synopses of the books
Decide: keep it or should it go?
In case you didn’t catch this disclaimer from last week, Scrill has passed the torch on to me, so to say. She has officially gotten to the part of her TBR list where its all mostly recent additions and so therefore they are all books she definitely wants to keep. Now we are going to tackle my insane TBR. And disclaimer: Its out of control. I’m not sure how I’ve amassed so many books on there, but lets just say it really needs a thorough clean up. Hopefully it will be fun to see what crazy books I have on the never ending list and you’ll get just as much of a kick out of it as I do! Lets begin, shall we?
The Books:
Book #3937
Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1) by Marissa Meyer
Date added: January 6, 2012
Well I already know this is a keep!!! I actually have this one sitting on my immediate TBR pile and I know I’ll be reading it here soon!! I don’t know why its taken me so long to get around to reading these but I know I’m going to love them.
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3936
Wicked (The Wicked Years #1) by Gregory Maguire
Date added: January 6, 2012
So I’m conflicted about this one, on one hand I know I’ll eventually get around to it, but it just really isn’t high up on the priority list so maybe get rid of it for now, and if it finds its way back eventually so be it.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3935
The Lightning Thief ( Percy Jackson and the Olympians #1) by Rick Riordan
Date added: January 6, 2012
AH! I know I may get shunned from the book world for this one, but I just don’t see myself reading these any time here soon. I honestly don’t have anything against them, and I love the movies, I just don’t have the desire to read these with all the other amazing books I have to be read.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3934
The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Date added: January 6, 2012
I went back and forth on whether or not to keep or cut this one… And as much as I’d like to say nope, I also think that this is one of those that you just have to read at some point. The movie broke my heart in the best way possible so I can only guess how much emotion the book will stir up in my heart! I’m going to keep this!
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3933
Graceling ( Graceling Realm #1) by Kristin Cashore
Date added: January 6, 2012
This is actually sitting on my bedside pile of books so I will hopefully be reading this one sometime in the near future and then it will have moved on to bigger and better lists! So even though I’m keeping this one on the TBR, it hopefully won’t be there for much longer.
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3932
Bag of Bones by Stephen King
Date added: January 6, 2012
As much as I love Stephen King, this one is probably lower on my list than most of his other books I’d like to read, so I’m going to shelve this one for a maybe down the road. Its a go for now.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3931
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Date added: January 6, 2012
This book is one of those you have to read it at some point books. But here lately reading is my escape from all the serious and deep topics. While I love a moving book from time to time I think I got the gist of this one with the movie and enough tears were shed there. No need to rehash these feelings again.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3930
Room by Emma Donoghue
Date added: January 6, 2012
I really think that this is an interesting book, I’ve heard a lot of crazy things about it and I’ve also seen the movie, as far as wanting to read every awful scary detail, I don’t think that’s what I’m looking for at this time so its a go for now.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3929
The Other Life (The Other Life #1) by Suzanne Winnacker
Date added: January 6, 2012
I’m so unsure about this one, while on one hand the synopsis sounds amazing, but on the other hand the reviews are all over the place. Good news is it seems like a pretty quick read so maybe giving it a shot wouldn’t hurt anything. I’ll keep it and see if its worth the read.
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3928
Masque of the Red Death (Masque of the Red Death #1) by Bethany Griffin
Date added: January 6, 2012
Yes just the fact that its based off of Poe makes me want to read this. I love the dark and creepy aspect of Poe and so I’m intrigued to see how this ties in with his story Masque of the Red Death. Its a keeper!
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Starting TBR shelf total: 3944
Total books kept: 5
Let’s Discuss
Alright, so I got rid of half of this week’s TBR books. I think that’s a pretty good improvement! I really had to get practical with myself this round and think to myself, what do I really think I’ll take the time to read. And I know I cut some really good books, but hey if there comes a time when those are what I want to read, its not like I can’t still pick them up. What do you think of my picks this go round? Would you have chosen any differently? Let me know!
