This was originally made by Lost in a Story, and is such a fantastic idea. Here are the instructions:
Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
Read the synopses of the books
Decide: keep it or should it go?
So Scrill has passed the torch on to me, so to say. She has officially gotten to the part of her TBR list where its all mostly recent additions and so therefore they are all books she definitely wants to keep. Now we are going to tackle my insane TBR. And disclaimer: Its out of control. I’m not sure how I’ve amassed so many books on there, but lets just say it really needs a thorough clean up. Hopefully it will be fun to see what crazy books I have on the never ending list and you’ll get just as much of a kick out of it as I do! Lets begin, shall we?
The Books:
Book #3947
Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Date added: February 11, 2010
First of all, I’m a big Neil Gaiman fan. And then secondly, I love the Coraline cartoon so I’m eager to see what the book is about and how it compares to the story of Coraline I already know.
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3946
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millenium #1) by Stieg Larsson
Date added: February 11, 2010
This is another that I’ve seen the movie and I’m really interested in finding out how it compares to the book. My dad also read these and highly recommended them to me so I feel like its given that I’ll eventually see what its all about.

Book #3945
The Tommyknockers by Stephen King
Date added: February 11, 2010
I’ve got about a million Stephen King books passed down from my dad, the avid Stephen King fan. This is one I have wanted to read for a while though, just got to figure out when I can read it without being scared to hang my legs over the edge of the bed..
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3944
The Tiger’s Wife by Téa Obreht
Date added: January 6, 2012
As good as I’ve heard this book is, and aside from the fact that I already own it, I’ll be honest and say that I’ve tried to get into this book a couple of times and failed. I don’t know that I want to try a third time..
THE JUDGEMENT:Go
Book #3943
11/22/63 by Stephen King
Date added: January 6, 2012
Another Stephen King, but one I’m definitely looking forward to reading.I have a feeling that this one will be one I tackle sooner rather than later.
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3942
Peter Nimble and his Fantastic Eyes (Peter Nimble #1) by Johnathan Auxierc
Date added: January 6, 2012
I mean, who wouldn’t be intrigued by the cute cover and the idea of a book about a blind boy who is a master thief. I know I’m supposed to be getting rid of books from my TBR but I really do feel like this would be a fun one to read someday.
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3941
The Taker (The Taker Trilogy #1) by Alma Katsu
Date added: January 6, 2012
This sounds too intense, and while I like a good romance this just doesn’t sound like what I would be interested in any time soon.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3940
Creatura (Creatura #1) by Nely Cab
Date added: January 6, 2012
While I would nornally say this premise sounds like a book I would love, after reading a few of the reviews for it, I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t sound like it was a well written book and therefore I’m going to say go since I’ve got sooo many books and so little time to read them, might as well save that time for the books I can’t wait to read.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3939
A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy #1) by Deborah Harkness
Date added: January 6, 2012
YES! This is one I just recently bought for my kindle and I’ve been waiting for that lull between books so I can pick it up and give it a try. I’ve heard mixed things about it but I’m still eager to see what its all about!.
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3938
Zone One by Colson Whitehead
Date added: January 6, 2012
I’ve gotten so into fantasy and sci-fi here lately its hard to remember to branch out into different genres and I used to love a good post-apocalyptic book. So I’ll keep this one in hopes that I’ll branch out here soon.
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Starting TBR shelf total: 3947
Total books kept: 7
Let’s Discuss
Okay, so please don’t judge me based on that horrific TBR number of books, haha! I’m pretty sure I have a problem with clicking that “want to read” button on Goodreads, but I’m working on it!! What do you think of my picks and the books I let go? Would you have chosen differently? I’d love to know!
Yes absolutely keep The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo!! One of my atf trilogies (no I’m not reading the new series ever). Also, the audiobooks are brilliant 😉
Yay! I love good audio book recs! Sometimes audiobooks are just so much more convenient!! I haven’t heard great things about the newer books in this series so I totally get not reading those, why ruin a good thing?! Lol
Maybe read the trilogy and then decide? It’s really controversial between his partner and his family postmortem. After I read half of the “4th” I decided that the new Lisbeth was a shell of Larsson’s Lisbeth and like you said, didn’t want to ‘ruin a good thing’. Thankfully there is a conclusion in book 3 even though he had planned something like 10 books!
