This was originally made by Lost in a Story, and is such a fantastic idea. Here are the instructions:

Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
Read the synopses of the books
Decide: keep it or should it go?

In case you didn’t catch this disclaimer from last week, Scrill has passed the torch on to me, so to say. She has officially gotten to the part of her TBR list where its all mostly recent additions and so therefore they are all books she definitely wants to keep. Now we are going to tackle my insane TBR. And disclaimer: Its out of control. I’m not sure how I’ve amassed so many books on there, but lets just say it really needs a thorough clean up. Hopefully it will be fun to see what crazy books I have on the never ending list and you’ll get just as much of a kick out of it as I do! Lets begin, shall we?

The Books:

15993106Book #3857

Hyde (Hyde #1) by Lauren Stewart
Date added: September 25, 2012

Obviously a Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde spin off here, which I am all for. I also think that this would be a good one to break away from the YA genre since its still got the fantasy vibe that I love but a bit more mature of a writing style. Could be fun!

Fire on the Island (Vigilati #1) by J.K. Hogan
Date added: September 25, 2012

So I was pretty into the synopsis of this one and then I see that there is a character with the same last name as mine! So this is a yes! A silly thing to make that decision for me I know, but its not a very common last name so I’m gonna go with it!

13483201Book #3855

Nocturnal (The Noctalis Chronicles #1) by Chelsea M. Cameron
Date added: September 25, 2012

This one was a back and forth kind of decision for me. On one hand the idea of it starting out right away with her mother dying of terminal cancer is a really big no for me. I like my reading to be enjoyable and lighthearted for the most part and these types of stories tend to really get me down in the dumps. But then she falls in love with a ghost? I’m kind of feeling American Horror Story season one vibes?? Which I loved so I’m torn… I’ll go with a no because I honestly have so many other paranormal romances to choose from and this one seems like it might be a little on the depressing side unfortunately.

9461562Book #3854

The Cloud Roads (The Books of the Raksura #1) by Martha Wells
Date added: September 25, 2012

This sounds crazy and awesome. Just that cover has me wanting to pick it up right now! I’m thinking this would be a really fun series to get into. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Martha Wells’ writing and honestly think that I would really enjoy this book.

13537542Book #3853

The Emperor’s Conspiracy (Regency London #1) by Michelle Diener
Date added: September 25, 2012

There really isn’t anything about this book that stands out and demands to be read. I think that the mystery of the who done it is usually pretty intriguing but for some reason this one did not spark my interest in the least. This is the type of historical fiction that I wish I could get into more, but it always tends to be a bit on the dry side which inevitably puts me right to sleep.

13414814Book #3852

Behind the Bookcase by Mark Steensland
Date added: September 26, 2012

You had me at fans of Coraline and Alice and Wonderland. This looks like a fun and whimsical and easy read, I think I even see an Illustrator on that cover, so with pictures! Count me in! I have always loved the idea of having hidden passages in my house behind bookshelves or under the stairs.. This sounds like just the right amount of creepy and creative!

10740844Book #3851

The Thirteen Hallows (Thirteen Hallows #1) by Michael Scott and Colette Freedman
Date added: October 23, 2012

I’m such a sucker for an awesome cover, and ahhh just look at this one!!! Not to mention it sounds like another great book to branch away from the plethora of YA books I am currently drowning in! I need some adult fiction that will hold my interest and show me that I can branch out if I find the right books! Hopefully this will be one of those.

12126366Book #3850

The Wiccan Diaries (The Wiccan Diaries #1) by T.D. McMichael
Date added: October 23, 2012

AGHH I’m doing so bad this week about getting rid of books on my TBR! I think this one might be a keeper as well. I have been so back and forth on the same teen paranormal romance books that tend to be everywhere now, but this one sounds different and interesting. I also tend to really enjoy books with witches, something about being a normal human being with the power to create magic is an interesting concept for me to consider.

9588207Book #3849

The Princess Curse by Merrie Haskell
Date added: October 23, 2012

Yep, this is going to be one of those weeks where I can’t bear to part with any of my TBR books apparently. Beauty and the Beast and Twelve Dancing Princesses were actually two of my favorite fairy tales growing up, so this being a retelling of both of those is an instant yes from me.

9644151Book #3848

Ashfall (Ashfall #1) by Mike Mullin
Date added: October 23, 2012

I can’t tell you how many documentaries I’ve watched on the Yellowstone supervolcano and how terrifying the thought of that actually happening is to me. But then again we have to be aware of it otherwise we won’t have a clue what to do when/if it actually does erupt. This sounds like a pretty good story of surviving the aftermath of such a catastrophic event. I couldn’t imagine being separated from my family if something like this every happened. Let’s hope for a happy ending!

Let’s Discuss

Yep this was a bad purge week. I’m ashamed that I couldn’t part with any more than those measly two that I decided were a go. Most of these just sounded too good to get rid of! Do you ever get on a roll thinking I need to read EVERYTHING only to realize there isn’t enough time to possibly achieve this. It still doesn’t stop me from collecting books and thinking I’ll get to them one of these days…! Haha every book hoarders famous last words, right? Do you ever do this? I’d love to know I’m not the only one!
