This was originally made by Lost in a Story, and is such a fantastic idea. Here are the instructions:
Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
Read the synopses of the books
Decide: keep it or should it go?
In case you didn’t catch this disclaimer from last week, Scrill has passed the torch on to me, so to say. She has officially gotten to the part of her TBR list where its all mostly recent additions and so therefore they are all books she definitely wants to keep. Now we are going to tackle my insane TBR. And disclaimer: Its out of control. I’m not sure how I’ve amassed so many books on there, but lets just say it really needs a thorough clean up. Hopefully it will be fun to see what crazy books I have on the never ending list and you’ll get just as much of a kick out of it as I do! Lets begin, shall we?
The Books:
Book #3859
Practically Dreaming by Jennifer Wells
Date added: August 22, 2012
Normally I am all for zodiac themed things, but reading the blurb for this one had me so confused. There are so many different nouns in the space of four paragraphs that my head was spinning. I want something simple yet intriguing enough to make me want to read it in a synopsis not a short history lesson. I can already tell this one will be an info dump.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3858
The Sorrows (The Sorrows #1) by Jonathan Janz
Date added: August 22, 2012
After the first horror book you read, they all tend to start sounding the same. As spooky as this sounds I know I have plenty of others on the list that are probably next to identical.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3857
Nirvana Effect by Craig Gehring
Date added: August 22, 2012
I’m not really sure what ever possessed me to add this to my TBR. I have no clue what its really about and the vague synopsis did nothing to appeal to me. No Thank you.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3856
Jepp, Who Defied the Stars by Katherine Marsh
Date added: September 25, 2012
.This looks and sounds super cute. I love the title and the name Jepp! A title can do so much for a book, I feel like so many here lately have started to sound so similar, its nice to see something a little different.
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3855
UnGuarded by Ashley Robertson
Date added: September 25, 2012
Angels, Vampires and Humans, Oh MY! This sounds like it would have been my cup of tea seven years ago when I added it, but as of right now I just don’t think its what I want to read. Maybe on a whim sometime down the road, but not for now.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3854
Amber House (The Amber House Trilogy #1) by Kelly Moore,Tucker Reed, Larkin Reed
Date added: September 25, 2012
The cover is so interesting!! It reminds me of To Best the Boys which I just finished reading (and loved btw) and the synopsis sounds like it would be a fun read. I like the idea of a house coming alive. Spooky yet mysterious! I’d probably still give this one a read sometime!
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3853
The Dark Unwinding (The Dark Unwinding #1) by Sharon Cameron
Date added: September 25, 2012
I’ve been really into the old London historical fictions here lately. And I can’t say that I’ve read too many steampunk books. I might have to save this one for a rainy day…!
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3852
The Raven’s Seal by Andrei Baltakmens
Date added: September 25, 2012
Another interesting sounding Historical Fiction. Apparently way back when I had the intention to get into this genre and I guess I just never did. I think this sounds like a keeper though. Hunting a murderer through the old streets of 18th Century England could be a fun adventure!
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3851
Sherlock Holmes and The Case of The Edinburgh Haunting by David Wilson
Date added: September 25, 2012
I’m pretty sure I’ve attempted to read this at some point and just couldn’t get into it for some reason. And for that I unfortunately think this one will have to be a go.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3850
Sectors by Brick Marlin
Date added: September 25, 2012
Apparently I was on a horror kick around this time as well! As much as I like a good spooky story, I just don’t think this is what I am looking to have lingering around to read right now. Maybe on a whim for a spooky October read, but I don’t need it clogging up the never ending TBR.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Starting TBR shelf total: 3905
Total books kept: 4
Let’s Discuss
Woo Hoo!!! I finally got rid of more than I kept! Its a miracle!!!! Now if I can just keep this up, then I’ll be in business to getting that TBR down to a reasonable number, like oh lets say 1000??!! lmao… Who am I kidding, its never ending and a vicious cycle because I still can’t help but click that want to read button every now and then! What do you think of my decisions though? Any I should have kept? Any that I kept that I should have tossed?? Have you read any of these books? I’d love to know!!
