This was originally made by Lost in a Story, and is such a fantastic idea. Here are the instructions:
Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
Read the synopses of the books
Decide: keep it or should it go?
In case you didn’t catch this disclaimer from last week, Scrill has passed the torch on to me, so to say. She has officially gotten to the part of her TBR list where its all mostly recent additions and so therefore they are all books she definitely wants to keep. Now we are going to tackle my insane TBR. And disclaimer: Its out of control. I’m not sure how I’ve amassed so many books on there, but lets just say it really needs a thorough clean up. Hopefully it will be fun to see what crazy books I have on the never ending list and you’ll get just as much of a kick out of it as I do! Lets begin, shall we?
The Books:
Book #3881
Gold by Chris Cleave
Date added: May 10, 2012
It sounds like a really inspirational story, but also really dry and here lately I’ve been slumping so I can’t imagine this would help me out in that area. Most likely it will put me in a further slump. I’ll pass for now.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3880
The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna
Date added: May 29, 2012
As messed up as the synopsis of this book sounds, it also kinda has my attention! I have read a similar book to this one called Beta, and I really enjoyed it, I might have to give this one a try!
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3879
This Dark Endeavor (The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein #1) by Kenneth Oppel
Date added: June 21, 2012
Honestly, I don’t remember ever adding this one to my list, but I’m liking it! It sounds like it could be a really fun read. I recently found that I enjoy books written in this era especially after falling in love with Stalking Jack the Ripper. Maybe this would be a comparable book to that series! if so I am looking forward to seeing what its all about!
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3878
Brood of Bones (Lady of Gems #1) by A.E. Marling
Date added: June 21, 2012
As Beautiful as the cover of this book is, I can’t stand when a synopsis leaves you even more confused about the book than when you started. And for this reason, I’m going to have to say nope.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3877
Ironskin (Ironskin #1) by Tina Connolly
Date added: June 21, 2012
Yet again, what does that synopsis even mean?! Maybe I’m just having a day where I’m not interested in these vague mysterious ways to word what a book is about because this just doesn’t seem interesting at all. Guess this is good for my TBR though, weeding them out!
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3876
Long Lankin by Lindsey Barraclough
Date added: June 21, 2012
I already have this book and its been sitting on a shelf in my living room just waiting to be read for such a long time. I will eventually get around to reading it!
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3875
The Moon Coin (Moon Realm #1) by Richard Due
Date added: August 22, 2012
I mean one of the characters is named Jasper, and that’s my sweet doggo’s name so I feel like I have to keep this one on the list! Not to mention that its compared to Game of Thrones, and The Chronicles of Narnia. Say no more!
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Book #3874
The Shadow Man by Mark Murphy
Date added: August 22, 2012
Sounds like it would be a good movie, but a really stressful book! I wouldn’t want to sit through the whole book being frustrated that the MC is on the run when they weren’t the one who committed the crime. Maybe some other time but not right now. I need those happy whimsical books!
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3873
Airborne (Airborne Saga #1) by Constance Sharper
Date added: August 22, 2012
Another vague synopsis (whats with these today???! I must be in a “mood”) and reviews all over the place. It sounds like every other generic YA book. Nothing really stood out to me as this is a book that I MUST READ. So in that case, Its a no.
THE JUDGEMENT: Go
Book #3872
The Gaia Wars (Gaia Wars #1) by Kenneth G. Bennett
Date added: August 22, 2012
Now THAT’S how you get a reader interested in reading your book! That synopsis drew me in and now I’m interested to find out what this book is about!
THE JUDGEMENT: Keep
Starting TBR shelf total: 3912
Total books kept: 5
Let’s Discuss
And here i was thinking I was going to get rid of most of these books… But I’m still at that half way mark! What do you think of my decisions? Any I should have kept? Any that I did keep that you think should go?! I’d love to know what you think!
