This was originally made by Lost in a Story, and is such a fantastic idea. Here are the instructions:

Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
Read the synopses of the books
Decide: keep it or should it go?

In case you didn’t catch this disclaimer from last week, Scrill has passed the torch on to me, so to say. She has officially gotten to the part of her TBR list where its all mostly recent additions and so therefore they are all books she definitely wants to keep. Now we are going to tackle my insane TBR. And disclaimer: Its out of control. I’m not sure how I’ve amassed so many books on there, but lets just say it really needs a thorough clean up. Hopefully it will be fun to see what crazy books I have on the never ending list and you’ll get just as much of a kick out of it as I do! Lets begin, shall we?

The Books:

11250671Book #3902

Above by Leah Bobet
Date added: April 19, 2012

This one is a toss up. It sounds really good, but then when looking at reviews, it has quite a few 1 star and a lot of other really low reviews. Could it just be that its one of those that you either love or hate? Or is it even worth the read? I’m going to say no for now, maybe if it pops up again in the future I will give it a try but I’ve got so much on my plate already I don’t need to waste good reading time on books I’m not sure about.

7766027Book #3901

I Hunt Killers (I Hunt Killers #1) by Barry Lyga
Date added: April 19, 2012

I’ve been seeing this one pop up a lot here lately. And I’ve also heard a lot of good things about it. Sounds interesting enough, I’m intruigued!

12328625Book #3900

The Academie (Academie #1) by Amy Joy
Date added: May 10, 2012

The synopsis reminds me of The Darkest Minds in a way, and I really didn’t like that book. I’m going to say no on this one.

13378361Book #3899

Alice Parker’s Metamorphosis (Alice Parker #1) by Nicola Palmer
Date added: May 10, 2012

To be honest, I have no memory of ever adding this to my TBR, but then again it was 2012 when I did…. so there’s that. After glancing over the synopsis and a few of the reviews though,  I admit it sounds good and the reviews are generally rated pretty high. I might have to give this one a shot!

13034105Book #3898

Shoebox Train Wreck by John Mantooth
Date added: May 10, 2012

With that vague description and lack of what is really going on I’m not even in the mood to waste my time with this one.

11958033Book #3897

Ten by Gretchen McNeil
Date added: May 10, 2012

I got this book a long time ago on my kindle for free so I will definitely be reading this at some point. Also sounds like a cheesy horror movie, which I love 🙂 so count me in!!

12562451Book #3896

Drain You by Beth M. Bloom
Date added: May 29, 2012

Sounds like a lot of angsty teen drama with a splash of paranormal. Doesn’t make me want to rush and read it so its a go.

13558423Book #3895

The Turning by Francine Prose
Date added: May 29, 2012

This one sounds super creepy, and I’m thinking “perfect October read” !!! I’m going to keep this one and put it on my October TBR!

11362198Book #3894

Auracle by Gina Rosati
Date added: May 29, 2012

I like to see how I feel about the blurb first and then check out what the average rating is before I make a decision on whether to keep a book on my TBR or not, and well this blurb wasn’t anything special. It actually seemed kind of cliche and corny, but then every single review is a 4 or 5 star review, so I’m torn. I’m going to go with my gut on this one and say its a goner. It might be super loved but I’m just not that interested in it.

12841935Book #3893

Dead Things by Matt Darst
Date added: May 29, 2012

Another one that seemed a little meh from the blurb but also has amazing reviews. I haven’t read a post apocalyptic book in a while so maybe I’ll keep this one for the sake of getting back into the genre.

Starting TBR shelf total: 3927

Total books kept: 5

Let’s Discuss

Yet again, haven’t gotten to where I get rid of more books than I kept, but at least this time its split down the middle!!! What do you think of my decisions? Any I should have kept? Any I should have let go? I’d love to know what you think!!!
